We were lucky enough to have lots of visitors throughout the year.
In October, 3rd - 6th class had a visitor from SEAI came to talk to us about energy. Guzzler taught us about the different types of energy and about the importance of conservation. It was so fun to play the interactive games to teach us about renewable energy sources. We all agreed to try to reduce our dependency on non-renewable energy sources.
Sixth Class also got the opportunity to do a Global Action Plan workshop. We talked about the food chain and the interdependence of all living things. We played games to learn what biodiversity is and why it is important.
We enjoyed a performance of Little Red Riding Hood by Moon and Sixpence Puppet Theatre. As well as being extremely funny, this puppet show had an important message: 'If you see a piece of rubbish, pick it up!' This was a great way of reinforcing the importance of putting rubbish in the bin through a medium other than a classroom lesson.
Term Three is always so much fun in Esker ETNS. There are lots of fun trips in the weeks of school. The teachers really like to organise fun trips that the children really enjoy but they always try to make sure that they can learn from them too. A number of classes are going to Imaginosity this year and others are going to farms to learn all about the animals that live there and also about life on a farm. We are really looking forward to the fun and informative trips.
